UAE Air Defense Systems Destroy Iranian Missiles and Drones
Abu Dhabi, March 20 (Hibya) - The United Arab Emirates Ministry of Defense announced that air defense systems successfully neutralized 4 ballistic missiles and 26 unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) launched from Iran.
The UAE Ministry of Defense shared details of the defense operations carried out against air attacks targeting the country.
According to the ministry, on March 20, 2026, 4 ballistic missiles and 26 UAVs launched from Iran were successfully intercepted. Since the beginning of the attacks, UAE air defense systems have countered a total of 338 ballistic missiles, 15 cruise missiles, and 1,740 UAVs.
The statement noted heavy losses during the clashes: “As a result of the attacks, 2 soldiers were martyred while performing their national duty, and 6 civilians from Pakistan, Nepal, Bangladesh, and Palestine lost their lives.”
It was also reported that a total of 158 people were injured to varying degrees, including citizens of Türkiye, Egypt, India, and Sweden.
The ministry emphasized that “the Ministry of Defense is fully prepared to deal with any threat and will firmly confront any attempt to undermine state security, protecting its sovereignty, security, and stability while safeguarding national interests and capabilities.”
