UNRWA: We provide thousands of children with basic literacy skills
New York, January 18 (Hibya) – The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) announced that it supports the normalization process of children in the Gaza Strip through education despite the harsh conditions of war.
In a statement, UNRWA said that despite the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Gaza, field activities continue to ensure that children can access their right to education.
Emphasizing that education plays a critical role in children’s psychological resilience, the statement said: “In Gaza, children are reconnecting with a sense of routine despite immense challenges. Through temporary learning spaces and remote education, UNRWA is providing hundreds of thousands of children with basic literacy and numeracy skills.”
The statement also highlighted the dedication of teachers in sustaining educational activities, noting: “Thousands of teachers continue this work under extremely difficult conditions and strive every day to improve themselves in order to support children.”
