US and Ukrainian officials arrive in Saudi Arabia to repair relations
Jeddah, March 11 (Hibya) - Senior US and Ukrainian officials arrived in Saudi Arabia last night for important talks today, aiming to repair severely damaged relations that left Kyiv without Washington’s support.
The Ukrainian delegation, led by Zelensky’s chief of staff Andriy Yermak, will meet in Jeddah, considered a neutral ground, with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and other senior White House officials.
This will be the first official meeting between the two governments since the heated Oval Office discussion between Zelensky and Donald Trump, after which the US president halted vital military aid and intelligence sharing.
Neither president will attend the talks, but Zelensky was in Jeddah on Monday to meet Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, whose government has played a mediation role between Ukraine and Russia.
