Brussels, May 20 (Hibya) - European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen welcomed the agreement reached by the European Parliament and the Council on reducing customs duties applied to US industrial exports to the EU, emphasizing stability and mutual benefit in transatlantic trade.

Stating that the EU will fulfill its responsibilities, von der Leyen said, “A deal is a deal, and the EU stands by its commitments. I welcome the agreement reached by the European Parliament and the Council on reducing customs duties applied to US industrial exports to the EU.”
Calling for the legislative process to be accelerated, von der Leyen said, “This means that, as we promised, we will soon deliver on our part of the EU-US Joint Statement. I now call on members of the legislative body to speed up and conclude the process.”
Drawing attention to the future of the partnership between the two major powers, the Commission President concluded with the following words:
“Together, we can ensure stable, predictable, balanced and mutually beneficial transatlantic trade.”
