Zelensky and von der Leyen meet in Kyiv
Kyiv, July 15 (Hibya) - Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced that during his meeting in Kyiv with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, they discussed Ukraine's European Union (EU) accession process, defense cooperation, the new sanctions package, and preparations for winter.

Zelensky said that during the meeting, held on the occasion of Ukraine's Statehood Day, special importance was attached to relations between Ukraine and the European Union. He stated that work is continuing to open new chapters in Ukraine's EU accession negotiations and that they are awaiting the entry into force of the 21st sanctions package.
Noting that significant progress has been made in integrating Ukraine's defense capabilities and defense production with Europe, Zelensky announced that the first document on comprehensive defense cooperation between Ukraine and the European Union, which he described as the "Drone Agreement," has been prepared.
Zelensky described this step as a historic development in Ukraine-EU relations and said that in the future they expect financial support from the European Union for a ballistic missile defense program.
He also stated that preparations for the winter season were discussed during the meeting, emphasizing that energy remains one of Ukraine's top priorities.
Zelensky thanked the European Union for its support for Ukraine and stressed that their joint efforts are vital for the security of their countries and the future of Europe.
