President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky personally congratulated Portuguese President Antonio Jose Seguro on his election victory and wished him success. Zelensky said, “Portugal has been a strong supporter of ours since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion. I appreciate the assurance that defense, financial, humanitarian, and political assistance will continue.”

The two leaders also discussed Portugal’s contribution to the PURL initiative, possibilities for joint weapons production, the participation of Portuguese companies in the reconstruction of Ukraine, and Ukraine’s EU membership process. Zelensky said, “Thank you for your clear stance regarding our European future.”
