Zelensky: Russia cannot be on equal terms with other countries
Kyiv, January 20 (Hibya) – Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky made a statement following Russia’s large-scale attack carried out with more than 300 UAVs and numerous ballistic missiles.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky shared reports on the situation on the ground after Russia’s latest attack targeting energy infrastructure and residential areas.
Drawing attention to the scale of the attack, Zelensky said: “The Russian attack included a significant number of ballistic and cruise missiles. In addition, more than 300 attack drones were used. Our air defense forces neutralized a significant number of targets. One day before this attack, we finally received the necessary missiles, which helped considerably.”
Emphasizing the vital importance of air defense support, Zelensky stated: “Every support package matters. Missiles for Patriot, NASAMS, and other air defense systems are extremely necessary. The direct task of our entire diplomatic system is to ensure that Ukraine has sufficient air defense capability. And partners must not fail in this regard. Air defense missiles are real protection for human life.”
Addressing the humanitarian consequences of the attacks, Zelensky pointed in particular to the situation in the capital: “For now, the most difficult situation is in Kyiv, where a significant number of residential buildings are without heating. It is important that the world does not remain silent about this. As long as Russia focuses solely on killing and torturing people, it cannot be on equal terms with other countries in the world.”
Zelensky concluded by instructing all state officials to be present on the ground: “All Ukrainian officials must now be in Ukraine, working, helping people, and trying to stabilize the situation. It is very important to be in the country, in our cities, and in our communities.”
