Ukrainian President Zelensky stated that he thanked the European Union Council for its decision and said that the legal framework for providing Ukraine with 90 billion euros in financial support for the 2026–2027 period has already been approved.

Emphasizing that these funds are a guarantee of their financial security, Zelensky said they expect all subsequent steps to be taken as soon as possible, adding:

“While Russia continues such despicable attacks on our energy sector, it is crucial that Europe demonstrates its long-term support for Ukraine. This assistance not only strengthens Ukraine in many areas, but also reinforces our position at the negotiating table. It is a significant contribution to the security of all Europe and to our shared future.”
