Araghchi: Agreements are either binding or have no meaning
Tehran, January 20 (Hibya) – Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi criticized Europe’s double standards toward the United States (US), saying that the international order is weakening due to this inconsistency.
Iranian Foreign Minister Araghchi criticized the United States for violating an agreement it signed with Europe six months ago. He stressed that despite European leaders’ statements that “agreements are binding both in politics and in business,” they had remained silent in the past when Trump unilaterally withdrew from the Iran nuclear deal.
Araghchi said, “The difficulties Europe is experiencing today are the natural result of that past stance,” adding that agreements must either be fully binding or have no meaning at all. Citing Trump’s threat to seize Greenland, he warned that violations of international law and the rules-based order could have serious consequences.
