Azerbaijani President Aliyev meets Qatari Prime Minister Al Thani
Davos, January 20 (Hibya) – Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev met in Davos with Qatar’s Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani to discuss bilateral cooperation and energy projects.
Within the framework of the annual World Economic Forum meeting held in Davos, Azerbaijani President Aliyev participated in a panel titled “Defining Eurasia’s Economic Identity” and on January 20 held a meeting with Qatar’s Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Al Thani.
During the meeting, it was stated: “I am pleased to convey the greetings of the Emir of the State of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, to President Aliyev.” President Aliyev replied, “Please convey my greetings to the Emir.”
The parties expressed satisfaction with the high level of existing relations between the two countries and emphasized that there is broad potential for further development of cooperation, including in the fields of economy and trade. The successful cooperation in restoring Syria’s energy supply through the delivery of Azerbaijani gas via SOCAR was also highlighted.
It was noted that the meeting also included an exchange of views on issues of mutual interest.
