Bomb explodes near national railway company's office in Athens
Athens, April 12 (Hibya) – A bomb exploded near the office of the national railway company in Athens. No injuries were reported.
On Friday evening, a bomb detonated at the offices of Hellenic Train in central Athens.
At 20:53, an anonymous caller phoned the news site “Zougla” warning of a bomb and claimed it would explode within 35 to 40 minutes.
The explosion was caused by a homemade device placed inside a backpack left on an unlicensed motorcycle outside the building.
Earlier, traffic had been halted on part of Syngrou Avenue.
According to police, no injuries were reported, but the extent of the damage is unknown as the area remains sealed off until the bomb squad and forensic unit complete their investigation.
The anti-terrorism police are investigating the explosion that occurred Friday night in front of the Hellenic Train office on Syngrou Avenue in central Athens.
