Chaiban: More than 2,100 children killed or injured in the Middle East
New York, March 24 (Hibya) - The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) announced that escalating conflicts in the Middle East have turned into one of the most severe humanitarian crises in recent decades.
According to CCTV, UNICEF Deputy Executive Director Ted Chaiban said that since the beginning of the military escalation, more than 2,100 children across the region have been killed or injured.
Chaiban reported that on the 23rd day of the conflict, 206 children were killed in Iran, 118 in Lebanon, 4 in Israel and 1 in Kuwait. The statement emphasized that due to ongoing bombardments and evacuation orders, mass displacement has occurred in many countries and communities are rapidly emptying.
Chaiban said: “This includes 206 children killed in Iran and 118 in Lebanon. There are also four children killed in Israel and one child killed in Kuwait.”
