While famine has been pushed back for now, Guterres noted that needs are growing far more rapidly than the pace at which aid is entering the region, saying:
“More crossing points are needed; lifting restrictions on life-saving items, reducing bureaucratic obstacles, ensuring safe transport routes within Gaza, securing sustainable funding, and guaranteeing unhindered access for humanitarian assistance are of vital importance.”
