IDF announces killing of a Hamas member
Jerusalem, July 31 (Hibya) – The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) and the Israel Security Agency (Shin Bet) announced that Abd el-Rahim Abd el-Hay Yusuf Kardi, identified as the deputy commander of a cell in Hamas' military wing, was killed in an airstrike carried out in Gaza City.
In a statement, the Israeli military alleged that Kardi also worked as a doctor at Al-Shifa Hospital, entered Israeli territory during the October 7 attacks, and played a role in the captivity of hostage Romi Gonen and Corporal Noa Marciano, who died at the beginning of the war.
The statement further alleged that Kardi had continued planning attacks against Israeli soldiers and civilians throughout the war, particularly in recent weeks. “The terrorist was neutralized in an airstrike,” it said.
The Israeli military also stated that Southern Command forces continue to be deployed in the area under the current agreements and will continue operations against elements it considers to be threats.
