Dutch Prime Minister Rob Jetten announced that the Netherlands and Norway have launched a new cooperation initiative aimed at reducing carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions and promoting sustainability.

Jetten said that efforts to reduce CO2 emissions will be carried out as part of the cooperation covering Sluiskil in the Zeeland region and Norwegian waters.

Jetten said that together with Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Store, European Commissioner Wopke Hoekstra, Yara Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Svein Tore Holsether and General Manager Luc Cattoir, they launched Yara's carbon capture and storage (CCS) project.

Under the project, Norway-based Yara will capture hundreds of thousands of tons of CO2 annually before it is released into the atmosphere.

Jetten said the project, implemented as part of climate action supported by the Netherlands and Norway, will contribute not only to reducing emissions but also to creating clean jobs.

Jetten stated that cooperation between the two countries will contribute to taking concrete steps on sustainability across Europe.
