Kallas: The EU continues to hold Iran accountable
Brussels, March 11 (Hibya) – European Union High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas stated that the ambassadors of EU member states approved new sanctions targeting 19 individuals and entities responsible for human rights violations in Iran.
European Union High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas shared details of the new restrictive measures taken against the Iranian regime.
Providing information about the scope of the sanctions, Kallas said: “The EU continues to hold Iran accountable. Today, the ambassadors of EU member states approved new sanctions targeting 19 regime officials and entities responsible for serious human rights violations.”
Emphasizing the EU’s strategic stance and security priorities, Kallas stated: “While the war in Iran continues, the EU will protect its interests and pursue those responsible for internal repression.”
Kallas concluded her statement by highlighting the diplomatic message:
“It will also send a message to Tehran that Iran’s future cannot be built on repression.”
