Prevot: The guns must fall silent, negotiations must begin
Brussels, March 11 (Hibya) – Belgian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Maxime Prevot condemned the drone attack in Goma that resulted in the deaths of a humanitarian aid worker and civilians.
Belgian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Maxime Prevot made a statement regarding the attack in the city of Goma in the Democratic Republic of Congo that caused civilian deaths.
Drawing attention to the details of the attack and the rising tensions in the region, Prevot said: “This morning in Goma, a humanitarian aid worker and several civilians lost their lives in a drone attack. Unfortunately, this is not an isolated incident; recently we have seen an increase in such attacks carried out by all sides and violating the ceasefire.”
Taking a clear stance against acts of violence, Minister Prevot added: “I strongly and unequivocally condemn these indiscriminate acts of violence. The guns must fall silent. Negotiations must begin.”
Emphasizing the importance of the safety of humanitarian personnel, Prevot concluded his statement by saying: “Protecting humanitarian workers who dedicate their lives to the most vulnerable is an absolute necessity. I extend my deepest condolences to the families of the victims.”
