Philippe Lazzarini, the Commissioner General of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestinian Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA), announced that the European Commission will continue its support for UNRWA.

In his assessment of the matter, Lazzarini said, "I have deep gratitude for the Commission and the EU’s long-term and strategic partnership, especially for their support for Palestinian refugees and their proposals to allocate 82 million euros annually for UNRWA. In these extremely difficult times, when millions of people are in need of our services, the European Commission’s support is truly indispensable."
