European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen shared the concrete steps taken to increase defense capacity and the financial scale of these projects.

Referring to the timeline of the agreements, Leyen said, “Within the next two days, Poland and Lithuania will become the first countries to sign the SAFE loan agreements.”

Emphasizing the importance of the plans, Leyen stated, “These two plans alone are worth more than 50 billion euros to close critical capability gaps and keep our eastern flank secure.”

Drawing attention to Europe’s defense vision, Leyen said, “With SAFE, we are strengthening our defense industry across Europe. We are delivering the capabilities we need. Faster, together, and at scale.”
