Sybiha: Digital platforms cannot serve as a cover for Russia's military propaganda
Kyiv, May 7 (Hibya) - Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha welcomed the blocking of social media accounts broadcasting and promoting the Alabuga cyber sports tournament.
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha explained the result achieved through the initiatives of the Ukrainian e-sports community and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as well as the responsibilities of digital platforms.
Sharing details about the blocking decision, Sybiha said, “Thanks to the efforts of the Ukrainian e-sports community and the Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, TikTok accounts broadcasting and promoting the Alabuga cyber sports tournament were blocked following similar decisions by Twitch.”
Drawing attention to the activities of the organization in question, Sybiha stated, “Alabuga involves young people, including minors, in the production of Shahed attack drones that directly enable the killing of Ukrainian civilians in Russia’s genocidal war of aggression.”
Thanking the platforms and emphasizing the importance of sanctions, Sybiha said, “We are grateful to Twitch and TikTok for their principled decisions. The message is clear: sanctions must be enforced, and digital platforms cannot serve as a cover for Russia's military propaganda or the involvement of youth in the production of weapons of terror.”
