Chinese President Xi Jinping arrived in Cairo by special plane last night at the invitation of Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, beginning his official visit to Egypt.

Xi Jinping and his wife Peng Liyuan were warmly welcomed at Cairo International Airport by Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi and his wife. At the official welcoming ceremony held at the airport, honor guard soldiers lined both sides of the red carpet. Egyptian youths also attended the welcoming ceremony carrying Chinese and Egyptian flags.

President Xi delivered a written speech at the airport, extending his sincerest greetings and best wishes to the Egyptian government and people on behalf of the Chinese government and people.

Noting that China and Egypt are ancient civilizations with thousands of years of history, Xi said the traditional friendship between the two countries has deep roots and has grown stronger over time.

Xi said that during the 70 years since diplomatic relations were established, China and Egypt have maintained strong solidarity despite international and regional changes and developed win-win cooperation. Xi Jinping said that in recent years, he and Egyptian President Sisi have led the breakthrough development of the China-Egypt comprehensive strategic partnership.

Emphasizing the strong political trust between the two countries, Xi noted that important results have been achieved in mutually beneficial cooperation and close coordination has been maintained on international platforms. Xi said these relations serve as an example for developing countries.

Xi Jinping said that during the visit, he and President Sisi would comprehensively discuss China-Egypt relations, multifaceted cooperation between the two countries, and global and regional issues of common interest.

Xi said they believe the visit will open a new chapter in the history of China-Egypt friendship, elevate relations between the two countries to a new level, and give new impetus to the development of the China-Egypt comprehensive strategic partnership.
