Rutte: NATO is ready to defend every inch of Allied territory
Brussels, May 29 (Hibya) - NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte made statements regarding Allied security and defense preparedness after a Russian drone struck a residential building in Galați, Romania.
NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte expressed solidarity with Romania.
Referring to his conversation with his Romanian counterpart, Rutte said: “I spoke with Romanian President Nicușor Dan about the Russian drone that hit a residential building in Galați. I reaffirmed NATO’s full solidarity with Romania and wished a speedy recovery to those injured in the incident.”
Emphasizing the Alliance’s defense commitment, Rutte stated: “I confirmed that NATO is ready to defend every inch of Allied territory. We will continue to strengthen our deterrence and defense posture against all threats, including those posed by drones.”
Addressing the regional impact of the attack and the risks involved, Rutte concluded:
“Russia’s reckless behavior is a danger to all of us. They continue to target civilians and civilian infrastructure across Ukraine. And last night, they once again demonstrated that the consequences of their illegal war of aggression do not stop at the border.”
