Sybiha: Pressure on Russia must be increased
Kyiv, March 19 (Hibya) - Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha warned that rising energy prices due to escalating tensions in the Middle East increase the risk of Russia escalating its aggression in Europe.
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Sybiha stated that tensions in the Middle East are driving up energy prices, increasing the risk of Russia escalating its aggression in Europe.
Emphasizing the need to increase pressure on Russia to mitigate this effect, Sybiha said, “Pressure must not be reduced, but increased.”
Sybiha stressed that merely stopping Russia’s “shadow fleet” tankers is not sufficient, adding: “They must be seized and individual sanctions expanded.”
He noted that a ban on entry for Russian fighters should be imposed across the EU and called for the immediate adoption of the EU’s 20th sanctions package.
Sybiha emphasized that sanctions are not only about supporting Ukraine, stating: “This is a step for Europe’s own security.”
He added that the planned €90 billion loan for Ukraine is not aid, but an investment in preserving peace in Europe.
