Estonia's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Margus Tsahkna, discussed the importance of economic diplomacy on the second day of his meetings in the Spanish capital, Madrid.

Tsahkna said, "My second day in Madrid focused on economic cooperation, meeting with Estonia’s e-residents in Spain, and appreciating the incredible contributions of our honorary consuls. It was inspiring to see firsthand how business diplomacy has brought Estonia and Spain closer together."

Noting that Estonia’s digital state model transcends borders, Tsahkna stated, "An important component of our economic cooperation is Estonia's e-Residency program. Through this program, Spanish entrepreneurs have founded over 3,500 companies, which is a remarkable indicator of the trust in our digital state and the shared belief in seamless cross-border trade within Europe."

Minister Tsahkna also touched upon the role of honorary consuls in diplomatic relations, saying, "It was an honor to meet with Estonia's honorary consuls and personally thank them. Their dedication, energy, and commitment to promoting Estonia and establishing lasting ties with their countries are making a real difference every day."
