WHO calls for equality and action against discrimination on World Indigenous Peoples Day
Geneva, August 9 (Hibya) - On World Indigenous Peoples Day, the World Health Organization (WHO) highlighted the role of Indigenous traditional knowledge holders in health and well-being and called for support for culturally safe and evidence-based health systems.
WHO issued a message on World Indigenous Peoples Day regarding the contributions of Indigenous Peoples to health.
In a post on WHO’s social media account, it was stated that holders of Indigenous traditional knowledge play an important role in promoting health and well-being.
The post emphasized the need to support respectful, evidence-based and culturally safe health systems that value the knowledge of Indigenous Peoples.
WHO called for strengthening health equity and combating discrimination, stating that the rights of Indigenous Peoples should be supported.
