Ukrainian President Zelensky met with Metropolitan Epiphaniy and expressed condolences to all Orthodox Christians.

Emphasizing that Filaret was an important figure for Ukraine, Zelensky said: "This is a great loss for Ukrainians."

Zelensky stated that Filaret played a significant role in the independence of the Ukrainian Church and the strengthening of the state structure, adding: "The Ukrainian people will always honor his contributions."

Also drawing attention to Filaret’s call for unity, Zelensky said: "He taught us to unite around the idea of a strong and independent Ukraine."
