Araghchi said they are in contact with counterparts in brotherly neighboring countries to clarify that Iran is only exercising its legitimate right of self-defense under the UN Charter.

Emphasizing that Iran will not remain a spectator to US attacks against its people, Araghchi said, “We regret that the targets are located in friendly countries.”

Araghchi said he does not understand why the US administration insists on starting negotiations with Iran and then attacking Iran in the middle of the talks, adding:

“The same thing happened last June. Even the Omani Foreign Minister confirmed this 48 hours ago. We do not understand the reasons for the US attack on Iran. Perhaps the US administration was dragged into this. One thing I know for certain: Iran will punish those who kill our children. Our hostility is not directed at the American people, who have once again been subjected to lies.”
