Luxon: Developments in Hormuz are increasing fuel prices
Wellington, March 20 (Hibya) - New Zealand Prime Minister Christopher Luxon stated that attacks in the Middle East have raised fuel prices and condemned Iran’s actions in the Strait of Hormuz.
New Zealand Prime Minister Christopher Luxon emphasized that attacks on fuel tankers and energy infrastructure directly increase fuel prices.
Criticizing Iran, Luxon said: “Together with the United Kingdom and other countries, we have condemned the attacks in the Gulf.”
Noting that Iran has effectively closed the Strait of Hormuz to ships carrying fuel and critical goods, Luxon said: “We continue to work with our partners to maintain open supply lines for global trade. A possible decision to contribute to ensuring safe passage in Hormuz will be assessed by the Cabinet.”
