Minister Crosetto: Freedom must be protected through deterrence
Rome, April 21 (Hibya) – Italian Defense Minister Guido Crosetto stated that in order to protect freedom, democratic countries must jointly strengthen their defense and deterrence capabilities.
Italian Defense Minister Guido Crosetto expressed his views on French President Emmanuel Macron’s assessment of the relationship between freedom and deterrence.
Responding to a question about Macron’s remarks, Crosetto said:
“It is true that freedom is no longer guaranteed in a world where autarchic structures constantly challenge the rules of international coexistence.”
Referring to steps to protect freedom, Crosetto added:
“Freedom must be protected, and democratic nations must jointly build a real capacity in terms of defense and deterrence.”
