Bulgarian Prime Minister Rumen Radev announced that his country had been removed from the list of jurisdictions under increased monitoring (grey list) at the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) meeting held in Paris.
Prime Minister Radev stated that Bulgaria's removal from the list, which it had been added to in 2023, marked a turning point for the country's international reputation. Radev emphasized that the decision opened up new opportunities for the Bulgarian economy, business community and citizens.
Recalling that the government had, for the first time, included a dedicated section on combating corruption at the highest level in its governing program, Prime Minister Radev said that the government's concrete actions and the National Assembly's decisions had received international recognition.
Radev pointed out that this development was a clear indication of the stability of Bulgaria's institutions and noted that the achievement represented a critical step toward membership in the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD). He added that efforts to strengthen the system would continue with determination to ensure that the progress achieved would be lasting.
