American journalist Jeffrey Goldberg said he was added to a Signal group chat where top US leaders discussed an imminent attack on the Houthis in Yemen. The chat included Vice President JD Vance, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, Secretary of State Marco Rubio or their aides, and other senior officials.

Goldberg published his story under the headline "The Trump Administration Accidentally Sent Me Their War Plans." Shortly after, the White House confirmed that Goldberg had been mistakenly added to the chat group and received classified military information.

The chat concerned the US attack on Yemen that took place on March 15 – before it occurred. The attack killed at least 31 people and injured 101. This gave Goldberg access to highly classified information that, if it fell into the hands of US enemies, could lead to the death of American soldiers. US intelligence officials were also in the chat, though Goldberg withheld their names.

Goldberg published a screenshot of the chat in his report but stated that he could not share most of the content due to its top-secret nature.
