Kallas: Air defense is our top priority
Brussels, September 1 (Hibya) - European Union (EU) High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas made a statement on Russia’s escalating attacks against civilian targets in Ukraine and the air defense support to be provided to the Kyiv administration.
EU High Representative Kaja Kallas noted that Russia is increasing its attacks on Ukrainian civilians and that the recent months have been the bloodiest period of the war, calling on allied countries to send their available interceptor missiles to Ukraine.
Referring to civilian casualties and the resistance on the ground, Kallas said, "Russia is stepping up its attacks on Ukrainian civilians. July and August were the deadliest months since the war began. But Ukrainians are standing strong. We must stand with them as well."
Emphasizing the urgency of the need for air defense, Kallas said, "That is why air defense is our top priority. Some countries have interceptor missiles that will soon reach the end of their service life. These can be sent to Ukraine to help protect Ukrainian lives."
